I am the Medical Director of Tinton Falls Medical Associates, located in TintonFalls, NJ. The office offers Comprehensive Healthcare for Women, Men and Adolescents, as well as Medical and Cosmetic Laser Therapy. I am Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gynecology. I am excited about the Laser aspect of the practice as well, as we are unique in the fact that we work with patients and their insurance to provide coverage for much needed treatments of acne, rosacea, scar resurfacing, warts, angiomas, spider veins, psoriasis, keratosis (actinic and seborrheic) and several more. Of course, we also provide many cosmetic services as well including skin tightening, hair removal, brown spot treatments, microdermabrasion, tattoo removal and again, many more!

Robert Shavelson, M.D. has been in practice in Internal Medicine and Gynecology for over 23 years. He provides personal, individualized care and believes in listening, communicating and spending the time needed to teach his patients and answer questions. The office provides comprehensive healthcare to women, men and adolescents. He also provides cosmetic and therapeutic procedures for multiple conditions for the past two years and has now performed over 1,000 procedures. The office accepts most major medical insurances.

For over two years now, in addition to my regular practice of Internal Medicine and Gynecology, I have been performing Medical and Cosmetic Laser Procedures in the office. I have treated multiple conditions including: Rosacea, acne, warts, facial/leg veins, removal of brown/sun spots, keloid scar revision, reduction of stretch marks, wrinkle reduction/skin tightening, hair removal, tattoo removal, port wine stains and angiomas and many more. More importantly, by working hard with most major insurance companies, the office has received coverage for many of these treatments. I, along with my staff, call the insurances, provide them with whatever clinical documentation they require, obtain pre-authorization and the patients receive their treatments, most often with little to no out-of-pocket expense.

Hair Removal: What is the Candela GentleLASE laser and why is it a safe treatment?

Lasers have been used for many years for a variety of cosmetic procedures including treatment of facial and leg veins, age spots and rejuvenating the skin on the face. The GentleLASE System, a revolutionary long pulse high energy alexandrite laser, emits a gentle beam of light that goes through the skin to the hair follicle where it is absorbed. The laser energy is transferred into heat, which destroys the hair follicle leaving the surrounding skin unaffected. The skin is further protected during treatment by a Dynamic Cooling Device where oxygen is sprayed onto the skin cooling the upper layers and providing patients with increased comfort. The GentleLASE selectively helps to protect the skin while effectively treating the unwanted hair.
