Laser hair removal is a relatively new cosmetic procedure that is now available to our patients. Using state-of-the-art laser hair removal techniques, Dr. Robert Zubowski is able to permanently remove unwanted hair from various areas of the face and body. The procedure is much less painful than electrolysis and offers results that are more permanent than shaving, tweezing, or waxing. Men commonly request laser hair removal to eliminate back or chest hair, while women usually opt to permanently remove leg or arm hair or to sculpt their eyebrows.

Laser hair removal is accomplished using a laser to emit pulses of light that are attracted to the melanin pigment in the hair shaft. The laser heats the hair follicle and destroys it, preventing future growth.

Before you undergo laser hair removal, Dr. Zubowski will apply a topical anesthetic cream to numb the treatment area so your discomfort will be minimal. Since there is no downtime associated with laser hair removal, you will be able to leave our office and return to your normal activities immediately after the procedure. Most treatments take anywhere between five minutes and an hour, depending on the size of the area being treated.

Total hair removal will not be accomplished during your first laser hair removal session because hair grows in cycles. Approximately two-thirds of your hair is growing at any given time while the remaining third is in a resting phase under the skin. For this reason, you will need to schedule more than one appointment with our hair removal specialist to ensure that all actively growing hairs are treated. Total hair removal is usually accomplished in two to three sessions that are scheduled six weeks apart.
