Laser hair removal is fast and effective and produces long-lasting results. This procedure involves the application of concentrated laser light to the hair follicles. Since light is naturally absorbed at a greater rate in darker objects than light-colored objects, the laser is able to focus a great deal of energy into the dark hair follicles, effectively damaging the follicle to the point where hair is unable to re-grow. Because this interaction is so specific, the surrounding skin remains essentially untouched and unaffected.

The procedure is quick, and the only side effect is a small amount of localized inflammation. Additionally, the therapy is most effective in removing darker, coarser hair as opposed to light hair. Fortunately, it is the dark hair that is usually of concern to our patients.
