In New Jersey, laser hair removal is provided by cosmetic surgeon Susan M. Hughes, M.D., F.A.C.S. Board certified and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), she performs facial cosmetic procedures at the Hughes Center for Aesthetic Medicine. Although she is a New Jersey facelift specialist, Dr. Hughes offers non-invasive cosmetic procedures as well.
How does laser hair removal work?

At the Hughes Center for Aesthetic Medicine, we offer laser hair removal with the EpiLight system. Using this non-invasive light therapy device, our certified technician is able to remove unwanted hair from virtually any area of the body.

Offering you a customized treatment according to your hair color and skin type, EpiLight sends pulses of light to remove hair and impair hair regrowth. The light safely penetrates the skin, disabling hundreds of follicles in a matter of minutes.

In New Jersey, hair removal at our office begins with a patch test to confirm your tolerance to the EpiLight system. Most of our sessions take place in 30-minute intervals. In many cases, patients require a series of visits to achieve their desired results.

The Epilight System is a noninvasive laser hair removal therapy device specifically designed to eliminate unwanted hair from all parts of your face and body. The system is designed to offer you a customized treatment according to your hair color and skin type. Epilight uses pulsed light to heat damage the hair bulb, and after the series of 4-6 treatments, 60-70% of the hair is permanently removed, and what regrows is finer and lighter.

Epilight does not work on grey or white hair, and does not work well on dark skinned patients, or sun tanned patients.

On your first visit, you will be given a patch test and consultation with one of our Certified Aestheticians. Several treatments are required with the average number of treatments being four. However, treatments vary depending on hair color and location. Generally one visit will last approximately thirty minutes long. Following your appointments you may resume all your daily activities with very few side effects. You should limit your sun exposure for 2 weeks before and after your Epilight Treatments.

For patients in the Philadelphia or New Jersey areas, it is recommended you attend one of our seminars or schedule a private, personal consultation to learn more about which options are right for you.
