Does it hurt?
Because of Soprano’s patented in-motion technology, even sensitive areas can easily be treated without the discomfort caused by other systems. By using a sweeping, paintbrush technique, the Soprano significantly reduces procedure time and discomfort, resulting in increased patient satisfaction. We compare the sensation to a “hot stone massage”, and patients agree.

How does it work?
Diode lasers are the most effective of all laser wavelengths for hair removal. The laser eliminates unwanted hair by emitting a beam of light on to skin. Passing harmlessly through the skin, the light targets the pigment (melanin) within the hair follicle and hair shaft. As the follicles absorb this laser energy, they are disabled, and unable to produce new hair. The result: lasting hair removal with no downtime.

What is the advantage of using a laser?
Lasers are precise instruments that can be adjusted to the exact parameters that will specifically disable the hair follicle. While electrolysis provides long-term elimination of unwanted hair, it is uncomfortable and can demand years of treatment. The laser uses a wide beam that treats hundreds of hair follicles at once, instead of treating hair-by-hair like electrolysis. Because of this, large areas such as a back, legs or arms can be treated in a short amount of time. Today, advanced laser systems are replacing unpleasant, time-consuming short term hair removal methods such as waxing, threading and tweezing. Shaving lasts only a few days at best. Bleaching and depilation can be very irritating to the skin.

Our Soprano laser gently and comfortably, yet effectively removes hair without causing irritation, and minimizes the chance of scarring and pigmentation changes. Imagine having hair-free, smooth skin. No more nubs, nicks, hassles, or ingrown hairs in just a few painless treatments!

How many treatments will I need?
All hair follicles go through periods of dormancy and growth. The laser works by disabling hairs in the active growth cycle at the time of treatment. Since resting follicles must enter the growth phase before they can be effectively treated, an average of five treatments is usually necessary to disable a majority of the follicles during their growth cycle. Because everyone is different and we all have different hormone levels and medical influences, some people may need additional treatments to reach their desired goals.

Is laser hair removal permanent?
The lasers we use have received FDA approval for “permanent hair reduction”. Once we disable the blood supply feeding the hair follicles those particular follicles will not grow back, they are permanently destroyed. However, not all of the hair follicles on our body are active and as we get older, inactive hairs will be active. The laser will not keep those hairs from becoming active but once they are, we can treat them successfully with the laser.

Who can be treated and who must perform the procedure?
The Soprano is effective for men and women of all skin types, including tanned skin, as well as different hair types. We do not advise having laser hair removal on sunburned skin. Because the laser targets pigment (melanin) in the hair follicle and shaft, it is not effective for the treatment of gray, blond and red hair.

It is perfect for any area of the body – including more sensitive areas like the face, neck and bikini area. At L’Amore Laser & Medical Spa, there is a female and a male board certified physician who perform the treatments to accommodate your preferences. You should be aware that in the state of NJ only licensed Physicians are permitted to use the lasers for hair removal.

What happens to the skin after the treatment?
Within several minutes of the treatment, the treated area may become slightly red. Some experience a sensation similar to mild sunburn. This reaction subsides within a few minutes to a few hours and the area returns to normal. You are able to reapply your make-up, return to work, and continue with your normal daily activities.

How much does it cost?
Treatments start a little above a hundred dollars and go up depending on the body area being treated. Clients can pay for the treatments as they are performed or they can take advantage of our monthly specials and package discounts to save money. We accept all major credit cards, as well as CareCredit financing. Call to schedule a complimentary consultation at (732) 252-9415.
