Welcome to the Dermatology and Skin
Surgery Center of Princeton

Skin problems range from cosmetic (e.g., facial wrinkles, leg veins, acne scars and undesired tattoos) to severe and life-threatening conditions such as skin cancer. The range of therapeutic methods used also varies, and includes microscopically-controlled cancer surgery (Mohs), laser therapy, cryotherapy (freezing), chemotherapy, immunotherapy and cosmetic therapies such as botulinum toxin injections (Botox®), peels and collagen/restylane injections.

Other Applications: Hair Removal and Leg Veins

Laser technology is presently being utilized for efficient and long-lasting body hair removal. The laser energy causes thermal injury to the hair follicle, stunting hair growth. Several laser hair-removal systems, including the Neodymium:YAG (Nd:YAG) laser, the long-pulsed alexandrite laser, and the diode laser are being used successfully with long-lasting results.

Until recently, lasers were used primarily for superficial facial veins. Thanks to the newest technologies, leg veins may be effectively treated with a variety of lasers and intense pulsed light systems.

Laser Pre-Treatment Instructions

1) Please do not wear make-up or any type of cream unless prescribed by Dr. Vine.

2) Please buy several days prior to your laser procedure ELA – MAX 4 %, over the counter cream - a large tube (could cost up to $60.00). You may also use the generic for EMLA Cream which is Liodocaine 5%. The cream is to be applied one hour prior to your procedure (a thick layer is preferred). This cream helps numb the area being treated.

IRIDEX / DioLite – 532

1) Generally little or no pre-treatment is required with the DioLite 532.

2) Your Physician may recommend a treatment to prepare you for laser therapy. Sometimes a mild bleaching agent is prescribed to lighten the areas that will be treated.
